Artist's Description
A hawk soars gracefully against a clear blue sky, its feathers detailed and well-defined as it glides effortlessly mid-air. The sunlight highlights the rich brown tones of its plumage, showcasing the bird's majestic presence. I am looking for an ID on this hawk seen in the Sacramento Valley. Can anybody tell me what it is? Thanks in advance

Thanks a lot. Birds in Flight has been a theme of mine for a while, ie capturing nice sharp photographs while the bird is in action. Yes, I bet it's a Red-tailed hawk, figuring they are common around here, and it's certainly not a Red-shouldered, which is also common here. Dark phase- I think you got it.
